Vista, Teamsite 6.7.1 and mapped network drives

Our organisation is moving to Vista shortly and we have a couple of machines set up with Vista and have struck a couple of oddities when it comes to using windows explorer to access teamsite.

We map to \\servername\iwserver\ to allow files to be dropped into the various websites easily. This works fine on XP, and connects okay on Vista.

However on Vista if you right click a file and select "open with" it will either come up with a message "Windows cannot find 'filepath\filename'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again", (This occurs when you have no alternate programs you can open with) or it will come up with the progam list and will display the above message when you sellect "Choose default program" instead.

The second oddity is if you are transfering a new version of a file into the website. When you select "paste" in the right location nothing happens. No message, no file transfer, nothing. It will only paste in successfully if you remove or rename the existing file. Similarly if you rename thefile or paste a new one in they will only appear in windows explorer if you click "refresh".

The third oddity is teamsite cannot write to "C:IWTemp\servername\launchpad.prefs" This happens to users who don't have admin level privilege's on the box.

None of these occur on mapped drives to other locations.

I'm guessing all of these oddities are related to Vista's security model and permissions and the way Teamsite is set up. Has anyone come across a way of dealing with them ?

Running Firefox I have no problems with Vista and Teamsite apart from the Windows explorer issues. The users of IE 7 have problems with the relative links, but I am going to implement something that shoudl take care of that.

Hence my asking here to see if anyone else has come across a similiar issue and has a solution - or not as the case may be.

Let's see - judging by the information in your signature ... When Solaris 8 and TS 6.5 were released (a big discrepancy in time there) - Windows Vista didn't exist - ergo, how could they possibly have supported it.

When 6.7.1 SP1 was released - I don't believe Windows Vista existed either, or it had been pretty recently released, which would have meant delaying the release of a number of features and fixes in order to run the product through an entire suite of QA tests again (or at least one would hope such to take place)

I haven't yet had a chance to look at 672 nor its documentation (isn't that coming out soon?) - but one would probably expect that 672 would support Vista, if not, then a patch or SP for 672 certainly should.

Vista came out in the spring of 07, SP1 was release in the fall of 07.

Now there are a lot of people who use Vista clients to TS, I have a lot of users doing it on SP1 with little trouble. IE7 is causing more trouble than Vista does.

I just think that a webbased product should not depend (heavily) on client software like os(-version) and/or browser(-version).

Isn't that what web-standards is all about?

We also have problems in using the iwserver share with exact the same problem description.
