OTDS uninstallation error

I have an OTDS which was installed and not configured. Later with out uninstalling the OTDS, i modified the JAVA, which was fixed by modifying the registry entry. But in between i accidentally formatted the drive where OTDS was installed. Now am unable to uninstall the OTDS as the installer is throwing Fatal error or Throwing error related to a script which is required for installation. Could you please help to provide suggestion how i can remove the OTDS

    Hello, @Prem_Dass29

It seems you’re in a bit of a bind with the OTDS (OpenText Directory Services) installation. Since the drive where OTDS was installed has been formatted and you’re encountering errors when trying to uninstall it, here’s a step-by-step approach to manually remove OTDS:

Registry Cleanup: Since you’ve already modified the registry, you might be familiar with this step. Carefully navigate to the registry entries associated with OTDS and remove them. To open the Registry Editor, press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter. Remember to back up the registry before making changes.
Remove OTDS Service: If OTDS installed a Windows service, you can remove it using the Command Prompt. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and use the sc delete command followed by the service name.
Delete Remaining Files: If there are any remaining OTDS files on your system, delete them manually. Check common installation directories such as Program Files or Program Files (x86).
Clean Up Path Variables: If OTDS added any path variables, remove them by going to System Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables, and editing the Path variable.
Check Installed Programs: Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features and see if OTDS is listed there. If it is, try uninstalling it from there.
Restart Your System: After completing these steps, restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.

I hope this step is helpful for you.

  • Hi @angela683 ,

I was able to remove it after modifying the registry entry itself. But thanks for the detailed step.

  • @angela683 What are the necessary steps to manually remove OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) from a Windows system when the uninstaller is not working due to a formatted drive?

@angela683 if I still encounter errors after following the manual removal steps, what further troubleshooting options should I consider to completely eliminate OTDS from my system?
