Could anyone, DCTM_Guru answer this question.
Appreciate your timely response and help.

  • With respect to UCF timeout issues, try disabling ACS on the Content Server.

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

Could you suggest the procedure to disable ACS on the content server to fix the UCF timeout issues?

  • Sure - the procedure is download the content server admin guide and then look for "how to disable ACS"

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

    ok

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

content server admin guide, could you let me know the version ?

  • whatever version you are using

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

    6.6,7.2?

  • Why are you asking us to guess which version you are using? You should know which version of Content Server. If you log into DA, it will show you version:

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

    6.7 sp2

  • Then you should download content server 6.7 :)

I'm sorry I couldn't find it do I need to disable first in app.xml file then under DA->configuration-> ACS servers ? to disable it? as ACS servlet enables ucf functionality?

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

As per my findings, We would need to disable ACS server running as a servlet on JMS then soon after changes to any configuration file, we would need to restart the JMS to completely disable UCF.
As ACS servlet internally references UCF functionality.

WDK-based applications can use the ACS server if the ACS server is enabled in the app.xml file of the applications. Most ACS server properties can be modified using Documentum Administrator-> Administration->Distributed Content Configurations-> ACS Servers node. Certain ACS server behavior is configured the acs.properties file on the ACS server host and cannot be modified by Documentum Administrator.

Would this fix the UCF time out issue?

Please throw some light Dctm _guru.

    Appreciate your kind response.

  • ACS servlet runs on the Content Server. Clients using UCF, call ACS by default, to improve performance. This default behavior works fine if your ACS is running. If it isn't running, then UCF timesout b/c its waiting for response from ACS. Hence, disabling the ACS feature on the client eliminates the check. This typically fixes UCF problems if you already have the supported JRE installed for your client version.

Yes I have checked the content server admin guide and DA user guide and distributed content configurations guide as well.
I would need further help to analyse how to fix.
The configuration to be done for acs.properties file, ucf client app.xml file or ucf server config.xml file for server side changes to disable UCF or the ap.xml lying under webtop or through DA->Administration->Distributed Content Configurations-> ACS Servers node to select none for ACS to disable it?

Dctm_guru , the user is not able to search any document based on custom object type and it's properties through advanced search or basic search but the results are displayed wrt the documents based on object type under cabinets folders etc; in-spite of giving her ACL access Read and assigning it to appropriate ACL adding her to group 'consumer' or contributor' role too.

Restarted full text indexing server and run acl_replication batch file to fix these kind of permissions related issues.
What else to be done my end?

Please throw some light on this issue?

    Appreciate your response.

  • FYI - adding her consumer/contributor role has NO impact on searching, since roles impacts UI, not security. I have stated this numerous times in your other posts.

Also, why are you talking about searching and not getting results when you original posting has to do with getting UCF timeouts? In order to trigger UCF to transfer object, you would have had to have at least READ permissions. It is bad etiquette to change topic of the discussion then what was originally posted. Create another post if you have another question.

  • SmelanathurSmelanathur Technical Architect

I'm sorry it was accidentally posted . My sincere apologies!!!!!!

    Dctm_Guru,

My Content Server version is 6.6 and JRE is 1.6, DA/Webtop/Taskspace version is 6.7 with JRE 1.7 on the app server(Tomcat) machine.

Is this because of JRE version compatibility issue which would hereby let us downgrade the JRE or making configuration changes to the acs.properties file and redeploying it on JMS and restarting JMS or disabling it through DA->Distributed Content Configuration->ACS Servers-> Select None to disable it and the xml file to configure for the ACS or the ucf-server.confg.xml file on the App Server Tomcat->Web-Apps->Webtop->WEB-INF->classes folder? including the element pdf under format compressions disabling?

    Querying for the properties of the modified ACS servlet objects using select * from dm_acs_config;

    Hope this should suffice?

    Appreciate your kind response.

    Thanks & Warm Regards,
    SM.

  • JRE version has to with browser, not the Content Server or App Server. UCF is applet that runs on the browser to handle content transfer. If JRE on the client machine is newer than whats listed in release notes for that browser for Webtop 6.7, it may not work as expected.

  • you can disable the acs read and write from wdk/app.xml file to resolve the timeout error, only if the client browser has not access to your ACS server (the url can be find from your dm_acs_config object dump)
