user accounts rename

We are using TeamSite on Linux. All the users have local linux accounts for authentication.
Our campany is planning to implement centrify (which uses AD accounts).
which is creating conflicts as the username is same on Linux server and in AD.

we need to rename some of the user accounts on the local linux server, keeping the UID same in the /etc/*******passwd****** file.
i don't think i need to run the iwidmap on the backingStore as i am keeping the UID same.
i am planning to update /conf/tsgroups.xml, /conf/roles/tsusers.xml files
and recycle the Linux server.

is it the right way? do i need to run /bin/iwuser? am i missing any thing.

Thanks in advance.

  • If the UID indeed stays the same then you don't need to do anything. The user name can change, (andy -> andyk) as long as the UID stays at 1001 (which is how the OS labels the files) there is not a problem.

That is a big ask to keep the UID consistent when you move from local accounts to LDAP/AD.
