    You can see the DQL to SQL translation using Documentum Administrator. There is a checkbox in DQL editor to show the SQL that is used behind the scenes. It may have a lot of extraneous calls, but you should be able to see the major JOINS.

    I have no idea what is extraneous in your environment. Just keep on adding to your where clause to filter stuff you don't want out.
    Your where clause for bounding for period seems fine - are you seeing data outside those dates?
    Dm_clean will delete objects that are not referenced - it has no context of "obsolete or expired". This will have to be a function of CA.
