Dashboard reporting using BIRT designer

I had a question on dashboard reporting. I recently saw a webinar on the Actuate site where it was shown how "reportlets" can be used to create management dashboards. The examples that were shown had the report designs created in Actaute e.RDPro and then reportlets were extracted from the report output file (.roi) to show them as dashboards.
Is this functionality possible with the Actuate BIRT designer Professional?
