In Actuate Release 11, there are several improvements to the charting capabilities:-
• Improved Performance The chart viewing performance has been improved by as much as 50% by optimizing the serialization techniques and using a new PNG writer.
• New Polar/Radar Chart Actuate BIRT provides an extensive set of charts with support for thirteen main chart types and many subtypes. A new Radar/Polar style chart type has been added in Actuate Release 11. The Radar charts can be used to display multivariate observations with an arbitrary number of variables. This chart type supports standard radar style, bulls-eye, and spider charts. Series points can be plotted as disconnected lines, filled and unfilled polygons, or as single points when using optional grouping.
• Support multiple drill-through paths BIRT developers will be able to specify multiple drill-through paths for BIRT charts. This will enable them to provide multiple analysis options to the users.
• Ability to display messages for empty charts Actuate Release 11 now provides the developer with the ability to display messages in the chart output when no data is retrieved for a chart. This enhances the user experience for the BIRT consumers as they would view meaningful messages rather than a blank section.

Attached BIRT design("Customer Dashboard.rptdesign") demonstrates the ability to configure multiple drill-down hyperlinks in BIRT charts. In this BIRT design, the Revenue by Product Line Pie chart has been configured to provide two paths of drill through analysis. Report consumers can choose to either drill through to conduct Revenue Analysis or to analyze Revenue by Product Line.
Attached BIRT design("Revenue Analysis.rptdesign") demonstrates the ability to show a custom message if no data is retrieved for a BIRT chart. In this example, the two BIRT charts display a "No Data available" message if the charts do not contain any data.
