We have our content server and Taskspace application in Documentum 6.6 versions.

We want to upgrade the same to Documentum 7.

Below are the few questions:

1) Is it possible?

2) Any documentation for the same?

3) Do Documentum 7 supports only XCP 2.0 client application?

4) If Documentum 7 supports only XCP 2.0 client application, then how to migrate/upgrade the XCP 1.x to XCP 2.0?

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Nilesh.

    1. Yes

    2. I guess the installation guides should have upgrade instructions

    3. No. D7 works with xCP 2, D2 and all the clients released in 6.7 SP2 (webtop, xCP, etc)

    4. Use the latest xCP (6.7SP2) that works with D7. There is no possible migration from xCP 1.x to xCP 2. You need to redevelop everything from scrach or wait for xCP 2.1 that will support certain migrations (it won't be possible to migrate every xCP 1.x development).

Detailed upgrade and migration documentation is available on the Support site:

    Following approach we are planing:

    1) Upgrade the content server from 6.6 to Documentum content server 7

    2) Upgarde taskspace war from 6.6 to 6.7

    3) Install composer of version 6.7 and then configure it to work with 6.6 documentum projects

    4) Install process builder of version 6.7 and then configure it to work with processes developed in 6.6

    5) Install form builder of version 6.7 and then configure it to work with forms developed in 6.6

    Is this approach fine?

Since there is a direct migration path from 6.6 to 7.x, yes why not?

Based on the documentation we have to go from 6.6 to 7.0 and then to 7.2. Good to know that we can move directly to 7.2

What is your CS OS ?
