I have created a report in BIRT using crosstab. The report contains 70 rows and around 200 images. I export the report to xlsx and its working fine. Now when the number of rows increase to 100 and 300 images the report is saved but not opening in xlsx. It keeps giving the error "Excel cannot open the file, the report format or extension is not correct. verify that the file has not been corrupted....". I am using Birt viewer with tomcat 8
Help please!

  • RSiegler My problem got solved. Actually i had some images in the second report which were corrupt that's why excel was not opening the report, It didnt have anything to do with the excel memory limitation.

  • sanam_Sarwar12345,

How much underlying data is there beyond the 100 visible rows?

At first blush, I would imagine that since it works with less data that this may be due to the limitations of XLSX format in MS Excel.

  • Glad to hear that it was readily rectified by inserting corrected images!
