Extraction from Zip File Fails

Issue

• When files are being extracted from a compressed (.zip) file, any of the following may be encountered.

  1. A password is requested for some files even though the files are not password protected.
  2. The message Source Path Too Long is generated for some files.
  3. The message Error: The system cannot find the path specified is generated for some files.

• After zipped files are extracted and an install is begun with them, the following error is generated:

  Error 1309. Error reading from file ...

Resolution

• Try extracting the files to a location with a shorter path.
• If the Windows Compressed (zipped) Folders program is being used to extract the files, try using WinZip instead.
• Make sure the zip file has been copied to a local drive before extracting the files.
