Filtering Search Results

Is it possible to limit document search results to only the "current version" or "current revision"?

For example, I was searching for a document by it's name, and got 27 "related" documents.

Out of these, there were only 5 documents of the current revision, the rest were old irrelevant documents.

I though we used to be able to filter the results.

Anyone have an answer?

  • For Content Server, there is a detailed Search Query language - called LQL that can help here. You can also amend the Search Slices you are doing so that you search using the current version rather than all versions slice - a slice is similar to a DB View.

  • The default search template adds a "( [ region "OTCurrentVersion" ] != "FALSE" )" clause to your search query. It happens behind the scene so the result should contain current versions only. It has been like this for 20+ years.

The "related" documents might be items returned by Best Bet. They will not be displayed if you turn off the Best Bet feature.

  • Filtering the results is possible from the LQL level. Read a little about it in the documentation, you have everything written there.
