VMware VI Clinet 2.0 - Unable to establish connection with server

Env: Windows 2003, VMware VI client 2.0, TS 6.5 sp1

Anybody using this type of infrastructure? By using VI Client, I logged in and try to use TS UI. On login screen, it is showing the following errors:

1. Unable to establish connection with server
2. The domain select box is missing.

The url is http://localhost/iw-cc/command/iw.ui. It would be helpfull if anyone is giving few ideas. I appreciate your help.

I use VMWare player V 1.0.3 with Windows 2K from an XP box (2 GB of RAM). Works nice, if not rather slow.

GUI works fine from the host as well as inside the VMWare window as well.

Can you get to IIS on port 81 ? From either ?

Thanks for your reply Nipper. I don't know whether player and VIClient are same. I am able to get the login page, but with few issues. I open the default web site from IIS and its port number is 81. Are you talking about the same? Any more ideas?

OK, so your network is good (you could see the IIS screen I assume) and you are getting the TS login.

So it appears that the servletd is either not running or on the wrong port.

Open control panel -> services and see if it is running.

Check the logs.

Also, reboot. Once in a while I cannot get the GUI running, reboot and everything is good.

Thanks for your information. IIS is running and I am seeing login page.
I verified the log files, no information about any error. The servletd is also running. If it gives some error, I could try to find some details..Any more ideas folks? I appreciate your help. Thanks..

Hi, it is working now. It is not able to resove the computer name. Our network guys added a line in host file of windows/system32... The line is locahost computername. Now the TeamSite is working in normal way. Thanks for your support.
