Document Naming Rules/Restrictions in Core?

Hi,

We are having issues with some items not sharing from Content Server to Core. We have also noticed that some items are renamed when shared in Core. I'm thinking Core must have a different set of allowed characters in doc names and/or different name length restrictions? Is there any documentation on this?

Thanks,
Jo

Hi Joanne and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Are you able to open a ticket as you would for Content Server (via My Support)? The integration between Content Server and Core Share is actually assigned and managed by the Content Server team.

A thought > As for files not being shareable via Content Server, it might be that the location/folder/area in your Content Server has not been marked for External Sharing in the Content Server/Core Share section of the admin console in Content Server. Unless you selected All when configuring the content in Content Server for external sharing... In which case this would not apply - just a point for consideration.

As suggested, I would advise to open a ticket for the issue as you would with Content Server issues/requests and it will be prioritized and assigned accordingly.

  • Thanks Jay. We have selected all for external sharing so that won't be the issue. When sharing a folder the majority of documents shared successfully but 2 or 3 did not, all similar pdf documents. We will do some further testing and log a ticket via My Support.

  • FYI for anyone also having this issue it was caused by document names containing forward slash or backslash characters \ /. When a document in CS contains one or more of these characters and is shared to Core the item in Core is named only with characters that follow the slash character. e.g. In CS: Final group figures for financial year 2019/2020.xlsx will become in Core: 2020.xlsx

There is an open feature request to address this but no ETA.
