Is there a release date specified for EMAPI 2.5? The only references I can find say "early 2012" - it's the end of March so we must nearly be out of early 2012.
Is it safe to put a production system on to the https://advancemessaging.easylink.com/soap/sync? Will this url still be active after 2.5 is released?
EMAPI 2.5 has been officially released, and is in production at the https://advancemessaging.easylink.com/soap/sync URL.
As you indicated, it is scheduled to be transitioned to the primary URL (https://messaging.easylink.com/soap/sync) in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, it is safe to use https://advancemessaging.easylink.com/soap/sync for production traffic. The advancemessaging URL will continue to function once the messaging URL is updated (as a matter of fact, once that happens, the two URL's will actually be pointing to the exact same web servers).
Once the transition occurs, though, we recommend switching to the primary URL (messaging), so your application is not affected by a future advance release.
Great, thanks for that
Note
I recommend that you read the URL from a config or ini file or even the registry so that it is easy to update and does not require a new build of the application.
Tom
Thanks. We read it from a database setting.
Hello,
Would it be possible to specify more exact information than "early 2012", or "in the coming weeks" weeks please. Also, how will the upgrade be published so people are aware of it? Is there an upgrade document available that outlines items that users should be aware of when upgrading?
thank you,
Robert
Last I heard, the release was scheduled for March 31 (so it sneaks into "early 2012" under the wire, so to speak).
Since the new release is completely backwards compatible with the old, there is nothing that you need to do.
If you want to update your application to use the new features of the 2.5 release, you can check out the post on What's new in EMAPI 2.5.
