Is it possible to specify the time frame in which the SMS needs to be sent ?

For example Is that possible to send SMS only from 9 AM EST to 5 PM EST on a given day. The rest of the messages sent to Easylink after 5 PM EST should be delivered the next day after 9 AM EST.

You can put a start time and an end time in via the API, but that will not carry over to the next day. You need to discuss a retry algo to do that with your Sales\PreSales person to handle this.

The above comment is correct, but another approach is to use our blackout feature. Blackout says "I want to send my messages between certain times in the local timezone of the recipients". The system manages those deliveries based on the phone numbers of the destinations.

So if your have a blackout to force deliveries to happen between 9am and 5 pm, and you submit a job at 8 am (in a particular timezone), the system will hold that job until 9am.

One caveat (as indicated above) is that once a job has started delivering, if it hasn't finished delivering all its items when the blackout period arrives (so at 5 PM in the example above), then all remaining deliveries will not be attempted; they get cancelled with a code indicating that they have expired. That's why (as thuneke mentions above), if you wanted a single job's deliveries to carry over to the next day, there would be specialized retry processing involved.

A simple blackout rule can be configured via the user profile, if you'd like to try it out.
