API question

So we are looking to send a fax using your
API from a Java based webserver (Oracle Weblogic). The source of the data(header, message and
fax number) will be stored in a Oracle database, the fax message will not be in
a document. I was hoping that I could
select the necessary data from the database into java variables and use those variables
to build and send the fax. Does your API have a method
call that would support this? If so, could you please send us some sample code so we can see how that is being done. Please call me if you have any questions about what we are trying to do here (319-896-8712).

It is based on an older version of the API, so you would want to bring it up to API 2.5. You can also do a Search for Java to see more. Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

While running the application I am getting “HTTP
transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect”

And in the sample program it is using a service method
JobSubmit, so I tried to get the updated method from apiforums. But, this is
different from the one used in sample application.

So, I think we need a sample running xml file.

Can we get help from any programmers at EasyLink? Can call Shubhranshu @ 319-804 0406.

The error you are seeing indicates that you are not even reaching our system - the exact XML that you send doesn't matter until you can access the system.

Please confirm the URL you are using to submit your requests. If you are accessing the test system, it should be https://test2messaging.easylink.com/soap/sync .

If this is the URL you are using, please try logging in to the host from which you are making the API calls and try to access the above URL from a web browser (if possible, use Firefox or Google Chrome rather than Internet Explorer). If you can't access the URL from a browser, then you will not be able to do so from your application.

Let us know how this goes and we'll work with you on the next steps.

I am able to hit the service from web browser. Following is what I can see in my browser.

Is your web browser configured to use a proxy server? If so, can you connect to the above site without using the proxy?

Or can you update your job submission code to use the same proxy?

No; my browser is not configured with any proxy server.

I tried to hit JobSubmit service from SoapUI.

Got the WSDL from view-source:http://ws.easylink.com/JobSubmit/2011/01?WSDL
Changed the Endpoint to https://test2messaging.easylink.com/soap/sync

Hit the sevice without modifying any values. And got the attached response.

So, I can say I am hitting the service but not from the sample application. If you see the very first post, we need the service just to send simple fax message not any document.

That's why I do think if I can have sample values in an input xml.

You need a + in front of the country code.

Thank for all the informations.. I am successfuly able to hit the services and even able to send the messages.

But, when using the invalid numbers, it is not giving me a clear direction. For example: I sent a fax to #1234567894.

And got the response as:

Is there any service to which I can hit and get the status?

The Status code received in the JobSubmit only refers to the JobSubmit being successful (0). The XML was received and found to have no errors. The XML was passed to the switch and a job number was created, which also gets passed back.

You can use the JobDeliveryStatusRequest(JDSR) to retrieve information about the job. You should wait 5 to 10 minutes to do the initial request. Emails process faster, fax you should wait a little longer. If your result shows an error such as "Busy", this will be a Gamma Code, you should base your next Request on the Retry Algo being used. The standard algo will retry in 15 minutes so doing another JDSR before then is not helpful.

There are two other Requests you can use. JobListRequest is beneficial when submitting a large number of jobs. You would look at the Result and determine iif you need to followup with a JDSR. The JobDetail request can be used to get specific detail reporting that can be asked for in the Request.
