Does Easylink support multi-byte languages?

We have a question regarding the email requests sent using Easylink API from our application. We have a question whether we can support multi-byte languages. Email subject & body would be in the respective multi-byte language (Japanese, Korean, Spanish etc.,).

 

Question is whether Easylink supports other foreign-languages other than English for Email sent out to customers and if yes then what is the change in technical approach using Easylink API that we need to follow to support them?

Yes, the system absolutely supports sending emails containing multi-byte content.

To do this, there are just a few things that you need to do:

• Use the <JobOptions><EnhancedEmailOptions> element to indicate that you are sending an enhanced email job.
• Within the <EnhancedEmailOptions> element, specify the <CharacterSet> element indicating the output character set for your entier job. I would recommend that you use "UTF-8" for this value, as it will then be able to handle any content you send.
• If your subject is in UTF-8, then you can include it directory in <EnhancedEmailOptions><Subject>.  If you are including the subject using a different character set, then you would need to use the "b64charset" option.  This option indicates that the contents of the tag are base64 encoded, and that when decoded, they will have the indicated character set.  For example, so if your content was SHIFT-JIS instead of UTF-8, your tag might look like:

<Subject b64charset="SHIFT-JIS">5LuK5pel44Gv</Subject>

• You would specify your documents in a similar fashion.  We generally recommend base64 encoding all document content anyway, to avoid having to do URL-encoding on the contents.  So a <Document> might look like this:
