Adding a topic to a discussion group
Motorola_Compass_(motocomp1_-_(deleted))
I originally posted this in "Developer's Discussion" then noticed this discussion group.Has any one been able to add a topic to a discussion through LAPI?I'm able to add Folders, Compound Docs, or Documents through LAPI (CreateObjectEx) without any problems, but receive an error code of -2147481629 when attempting to add a topic via CreateObjectEx (subtype = 130). The LAPI documentation says that the createInfo.request assoc accepts the information type 'Content' in addition to 'Comment', which I've included.ThanksJim Bennettmailto:sc2092@email.mot.com

Just in case anyone else needs an answer to this problem, I received the following from OTC support:You can place the Content field directly into the createInfo assoc of the CreateObjectEx function, instead of the Request assocThey also indicated that in a subsequent release (8.2?) that the LAPI would behave according to the documentation. One other thing to note when working with discussion sub-items such as topics - the volume id and object id to pass in to the CreateObjectEx function follows the pattern as in dealing with children of Projects, that being volume id = "object id" and object id = "-object id".

Thanks a lot posting a reply to your own topic.Your tip with the volumeID is really valuable for us.Hint for Opentext (if they read this):What about a "Tips & Tricks" section extracting the hidden knowledge of this discussion group?

Message from David Slimmon via eLinkWhat do you mean, "if we read this"??? ;)I'm not against the idea of a tips and tricks section, but in a way each of the discussions on the KnowledgeCenter are made up of tips and tricks. Are you looking for some kind of digest?Regards,Dave-----Original Message-----Thanks a lot posting a reply to your own topic.Your tip with the volumeID is really valuable for us.Hint for Opentext (if they read this):What about a "Tips & Tricks" section extracting the hidden knowledge of this discussion group?
