What about limitations in count and size of subtypes?
Hubert_Seel_(siemensadascsadmin_-_(deleted))
Hi,we have a large number of documents distributedto different types of information.Due to reasons of permissions, structuring thesedocuments and so on, we have created a schemeof our subtypes.Numbers in 10000-49999 are used but it could beneccessary to expand this range in the future. We didn't found any information aboutlimitations to the number of subtypes (32k,64kor more ) and the size of the subtype number(signed or unsigned, 2 or 4 Byte Integer). What about the performance when using a largenumber of subtypes?Who knows something about that?

Hi,as far as I know the only limit is the limit of the Database field... It was told me some time ago, that maybe a huge number of SubType could make your system unstable... It was the case that we had a lot of problem in the begining... so they thought that could be the reason. Now our system is running quite stable with even a lot more of subtypes, so no proof was delivered.Nevertheless, it seems a very strange way to me to use the subtypes to decide who has access and who hasn't... This mean that each time you want to change the permissions, you have to do some developements????Could you deliver me some more info about this technique?Kind regardsJohan Raedemaekermailto:jraedemaeker@switch.be
