Livelink Desktop - How to retrieve attributes in MS Word?

I have the DE edition of Livelink Desktop and I wonder if there is a way to retrieve Livelink custom attributes from a Word Basic module when a document is open with LiveOffice. The LiveOffice com object seem to act as a "Black-Box" without any interfaces with the LiveDesk or LiveLib objects. Any example or direction would be very much appreciated.
