LAPI - List children
Chris_Hall_(linkhanduser1_-_(deleted))
We are porting a VB application that used LAPI 7 to LAPI 8.15. It used LL_ListObjects() to produce a list of the nodes, children of a given node. That function appears to have disappeared from LAPI 8.15, although the prototype is still in lapi_document.bas. It definitely has disappeared from the documentation. And it does not work!Is it being replaced by some other function? Could it be ApplyQuery with some special combination of parameters?Could you help me with that please? Thanks so much.Mo

Message from Simone Oettinger via eLinkThe function is alive and well. Here is its documentation (It was missing in8.1.5... The following is an except from V9 documentation). What is theproblem that you are having? If this doc doesn't help, please contact TechSupport.ThanksSimoneSimone OettingerProduct ManagerOpen Text Corporation847-267 9330 ext 4224simone@opentext.com------------------ListObjectsThis function returns a RecArray value object containing one Record ofinformationabout each direct child of the specified object.C Function PrototypeLLSTATUS LL_ListObjects( LLSESSION session, LLLONG volumeID, LLLONG objectID, LLCSTR viewName, LLCSTR queryStr, LLLONG permissions, LLVALUE children );Java Method Declarationpublic int ListObjects( int volumeID, int objectID, String viewName, String queryStr, int permissions, LLValue children )Visual Basic PrototypeLong LL_ListObjects( _ ByVal session as Long, _ ByVal volumeID as Long, _ ByVal objectID as Long, _ ByVal viewName as String, _ ByVal queryStr as String, _ ByVal permissions as Long, _ ByVal children as Long )Input Parameterssession the session handle as returned by theSessionAllocExfunctionvolumeID the volume ID of the parent objectobjectID the object ID of the parent objectviewName the name of a custom view defining the columns of datato return; before specifying a view, the Livelinkstandard databaseschema must be modified first to include the view;the view name mustbe specified exactly as it exists in thedatabase; to return allcolumns, specify a null value (0 for C/C++;VBNULLSTRING for VisualBasic; null for Java)queryStr the limiting criteria defining a subset of childobjects to return; it should be structured as the condition of avalid SQL WHEREclause, using any of the defined column names (eitherfrom thestandard return RecArray or the custom view specifiedby the viewName parameter); to return all child objects, specify a null value (0 forC/C++; VBNULLSTRING for Visual Basic; null for Java)permissions a set of permissions (for the current user) limitingthe subset ofchild objects to return (for example, PERM_DELETE toreturn onlythose objects on which the current user has Deletepermission); see Object Permission ConstantsOutput Parameterschildren a value object of type RecArray, initialized usingValueAlloc, with one Record for each object.
