Changing CreateDate and ModifyDate of a document w/ VB LAPI

I'm trying to alter the CreateDate and ModifyDate of documents using VB and LAPI. I need to be able to set these dates to any arbitrary date that I choose. I've been trying to use LL_GetObjectInfo, LL_AssocSetDate, and LL_SetObjectInfo to implement this change. So far I've been unsuccessful.
