How do I pull in Attribute Data to my LiveReport

I am tying specific attribute data to each task posted. This is acting as an issues list. Is it possible to create a LiveReport that pulls in from the Category table of the attribute as well as DTree where the task information is?

In Livelink Version 8 use this SQL format:

Select <columns>
from DTree, <Category>Tbl
where DTree.DataID = <Category>Tbl.DataID
<etc>

In which:
<Category>Tbl is the Livelink table storing attribute values for <Category>,
<columns> includes attribute columns <Category>Tbl.<attribute name> and
<etc> is the rest of your query.

In Livelink Version 9 it is completely different.

Can it be done in 9? We are upgrading within the next month and 1/2. How would you do it in vers 9?

Message from Sean M Alderman via eLinkI have not built any live reports for version 9 dealing with category/attributes yet, however I have had to do some development which required me to write SQL queries to obtain cat/attr info in a presentable format. The sql statement I created looked something like this -select a.AttrName, b.* from CatRegionMap a, LLAttrData b where b.ID = and RegionName = 'Attr_' || b.DefID || '_' || b.AttrIDThis returns the attribute name and attribute data fields for a specified document. The RegionName = field was the only way I could figure out how to get the attribute name and the LLAttrData record associated with each other. You could of course modify this to show or select by the Category Name in CatRegionMap as well. Getting the actual value to be the only thing that appears in from the LLAttrData table is difficult, as values are stored in type specific fields based on the LLAttrData.AttrID field.We just received our Version 9 Schema book, so if you do a lot of livereport writing I'd suggest that you contact Support, sign the non-disclosure and get yourself a copy. How do I list all objects and their corresponding category attributes and values in LL 9?For example, given a staff profile attached to folders, I would like to know who has filled out an Other attribute on a Set for Languages. Say a user selects "Spanish" and "German" from a set of dropdowns, but adds "French" to the Other field because "French" was omitted from the dropdown list for Languages. I would also like to know what languages were selected from the dropdowns initially in addition to the Other field being filled out.We are auditing our system with the intent of adding things users add in the "Other" field to the dropdown selections by default.I need a LiveReport that generates the attributes and values of categories attached to LL objects (specifically folders).Thanks in advance.

The attribute values are stored in type specific fields like LLAttrData.ValDate for a date attribute, or LLAttrData.ValStr for a String field. Try something like -select d.name, c.catname, c.attrname, l.valstr from dtree d, catregionmap c, llattrdata lwhere d.subtype = 0 and l.id = d.dataid and c.RegionName = 'Attr_' || l.DefID || '_' || l.AttrIDI'm writing this w/out access to try it so it might not work.

The basic idea is that you have to know what value type you're looking for...that's why l.valstr is hardcoded, you should substitute as needed. Subtype limits you to selecting folders, the dataid from dtree joins you to the attribute datafile and the regionname joins the attribute data to the category information.Hope this helps. How do I pass DCategory from DTree to be the Category in Tbl? I have several objects in a folder that I want to retrieve the category and atttributes of each and they could possibly have different categories. I am using v8.1.5 and have 16 possible categories that it could be.Thanks,Sharon.Hammond@shell.com
