Live Reports Output as Tab delimited files

Can you ouput a Live Report as a tab delimited file? We are creating table entries from a PDF form and then providing a Live Report of the most current data submitted from the form. Our users want to download the data into Excel. I've tried saving the data as a snapshot but get some odd results when loaded in excel. Besides all the screen gifs, some fields are merged, some cells are hiddin and the users can't manipulate the data (like sorting it into a different order because of the merged fields). I was at the Northern California users group yesterday and heard that we weren't the only users needing this functionality.

Use Excel "Get External Data" ...Did you know that Excel can get data directly from a web page. Use the Data | Get External Data | New Web Query function. Use the LiveReport url as web page address.

Excel "Get External Data" works with external authentication provided by the Livelink Directory Services module. However, with internal authentication, this method only works if Excel has a valid Livelink login cookie. If Excel does not already have it, then you have to get one.In a browser you can use the Livelink function "?func=LL.Login&username=&password=&nexturl=" to get a valid cookie (by logging in to Livelink) and get the LiveReport listing in one action. However, Excel cannot handle URL redirections so you have to issue two queries from Excel to get the LiveReport listing:1. Get a cookie by logging in to Livelink:?func=LL.Login&UserName=&Password=An Excel dialog box will show that "This Web query returned no data."2. Issue your LiveReport:?func=LL&objId=&objAction=RunReportThe LiveReport lising should appear in the spreadsheet.Subsequent LiveReports in the same Excel session can then be run by reissuing the query in step 2 because Excel now has a valid cookie. It's a wonderful feature to run LiveReport by Excel. I saw people copy and paste the LiveReport into Excel all the time, this will be useful for them. What if the LiveReport has parameters?

Hello,I think I am obtaining the login cookie ok (get message stating web query returned no data) but when I try to issue the livereport, it brings up the login screen. How should I be running the livereport in excel? The "run new query" option is greyed out unless I open a new worksheet. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Dave Beliveau

We have developed an Excel macro to handle this task.When running this macro, a popup window will display for username and password input. And the macro will run the corresponding LiveReport and display the result in the Excel spreadsheet.
