As Affinity Partners and Open Text Professional Services (OTPS) deliver more and more customized (OScript-based) Livelink solutions, it is increasingly important that these customizations do not conflict with each other. To minimize this conflict between solutions, each solution should have unique names and numbers assigned to the OScript elements. Open Text Development has defined a range of numbers for use only by Development (0-2000). Open Text customers, who develop customizations for internal use only, now also has a defined range for use (8000-9999). As long as their customizations stay within the designated range, there will be no chance for conflict with Open Text, Open Text Partner, and Open Text Professional Service modules. However, Affinity Partners and Open Text Professional Services develop solutions for a common market. In order to avoid conflict, their OScript elements must have unique names and numbers. Registry range for OTPS and Partners: 32,000-99,999,999. To ensure that these elements remain unique, Open Text has created an OScript Registry that is located in the Affinity Partner area of the Open Text Knowledge Center at:
https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/livelink.exe?func=ll&objId=2454603&objAction=browse&sort=name.The Registry is a simple QA tool that allows developers to generate unique names and numbers for new object types. Developers should register these new element names and numbers before creating new objects. Please see the Registry User?s Guide located in the OScript Registry for instructions.OTPS and Affinity Partners will be able to import existing subtype numbers of customized Livelink solutions into the OScript Registry until May 19, 2001. This period is provided to allow time for OTPS and Partners to register existing numbers and to consolidate all the subtype numbers into one registry. It is important to note that importing subtype numbers does not guarantee uniqueness, however, it allows all subtypes to be registered and identifies any other modules it may be in conflict with. Please see the Registry User?s Guide for instructions about importing existing elements. The following registry information can be found in the OScript Registry:- numbers and names reserved for customers- the different types of registered elements- basic guidelines for the registration of each element- answers to frequently asked questions- a guide for using the registryFor those Affinity Partners who need to be added to the OScript Registry, please do the following:Send e-mail to oscriptregistry@opentext.com requesting a Registry account.
