I'd like to know how to transfer the parent report parameters to the subreport (attached to the Details link on a livereport.)Example listed in the Livereports admin guide does not work. Details link in the parent report("My new items per day") runs the subreport("Items created on day X") but the parameters are not being transferred. Subreport acts on its own and prompts for user input instead substituting the parent parameters.While I'm on the subject, has anybody come across Dtree.name displayed as Kuaf.name in a livereport ??thanks

Message from Marie Lindsay via eLinkIn a nutshell: For each parameter you want to send from the main report,create a user input field of the proper datatype in the sub-report. The mainreport's "sub-report param 1", 2, 3 map to the user input fields 1, 2, 3.Make sure you have the user input fields "hooked up" in the sub-report,i.e., they're selected as parameters, they're used in the SQL statement,that sort of thing. Thanks for the prompt reply, but I couldn't get it to run. I found out that this has been outstanding since last year. Tried running the reports("user's new items per day" and "Items created on day X") from the livereports in version 9. I am still being prompted for user input. Is there a working example ??thanks

I am having the same problem as the person above...I have tried sub-reports verbatim from the LiveReports pdf and the example listed in your reply with the pie chart, and both do NOT work. The main report comes up, but then the sub-report does not recognize the parameters being passed. The sub-report comes up with the input field displayed instead of automatically receiving the parameters passed from the main report. Help!!!

My inclination is to send you to Support for help, but I'm very curious to know what the trouble is. Could you export the two reports and attach them to a reply here?

BTW, you don't have the "Show Prompts" checkbox checked on your sub-report, do you? This might cause the behavior you describe.

When setting up the reports, I made sure the sub-report was looking for a column name that was included somewhere in the SQL of the parent report, and that the parent names the column to pass along to the sub-report. I still get errors. Does the parameter being passed along have to be in the SELECT statement of the parent, or can it be elsewhere in the SQL, as in the WHERE clause? Can the format for the column name just be column_name or does it have to be tablename.column_name ? When passing a value such as an ID number, does it matter if the input type on the sub-report is number or string? I'm following the instructions on creating a click-through, but I just can't make it work.

Just for grins I am including the SQL for my reports --maybe someone can spot what I am doing wrong.

Hi Lindsay, thank you for trying to help me since I am still training.Unfortunately I don't have any administrator right although I was granted the permission to create Livereports.Therefore I have enclosed screenshots that I hope, will allow you to guide me.This is just an implementation of the livereport creation from the administrator's guide.The large one is the actual report and the small picture is the sub report.it seems to work fine but whenever I click on "details" to access the subform, the query doesn't seem to be able to find anything and the link displays the following message:"&inputLabel2=An+unknown+feature+was+specified"Thank you very much,Regards,Cheung

I found the problem in my case. It came down to something as stupid as case sensitivity of the value in the field "Sub-Report Param" in the parent report...
