Assigning DATAID, VERSIONID and PROVIDERID

Can anybody tell me how Livelink9 assigns the above values when it creates a new object within Livelink. Can this be calculated from existing values within the database or is there a complex algorithm which is used to create it? I need to be able to add items to livelink from outside the livelink environment and therefore need to know how to define the unique id's associated with these items.

I don't think it is wise to fiddle with these attributes. If you want to import documents into Livelink you can best use

- bulk import package offered by Open Text Professional Services

- use LAPI calls to be called from you own C++, VB or Java application.
