How can I call an external DLL from LiveLink?

I've read some old info (Sept 2000) from a client who was unable to call an external application from LiveLink. However, it appeared he was using LiveLink 8, and my company is on LiveLink 9.Can someone tell me if this is possible in LL9? Is it easy to do? Is it going to cost our company an extra $10,000 to get this ability??Please respond with technical expertise or user experience ... thanks!

It'd be really nice to be able to print a file at a keystroke like CTRL-P or something.My understanding from when I went to the Builder Fundamentals class is that accessing anything at the operating system level is not very easy to do unless you're willing to write a networksockets program to do it...which in itself seems to be a tough task. I think you can do it with Drop-ins; OpenText now provides some documentation for this with version 9 of the Builder/SDK. However, they explicitly state they don't support drop-ins for version 8.

We investigated this and it was going to be so difficult that we eventually abandoned the effort (we were looking at some authentication options).We try to do most interfaces by calling into Livelink using LAPI or querying the database.
