Overriding an Xlate ? Posted by eLink on 08/03/2001 04:26 PM Message from Sean M Alderman <sean.m.alderman@grc.nasa.gov> via eLinkGreetings, In version 8, we had written a custom module which overrode several general features of livelink. One of them was the Confirm script for the Delete function on a document. The only reason for overriding the confirm script was to change the message from : Delete this Object? to: Delete this Object? Warning: This action cannot be UnDone! (or something along that line, I don't remember the text off hand.) In version 9, this override still works, however only for those clients which see the info icon. Those which use the function menu get a message in the confirm box which comes from the Xlate WEBLL_MenuLabel.MenuDeleteMsg, which says "Delete this Object?" >From the builder I modified this xlate and copied it to our solaris test server. Then later proceded to upgrade the server to 9.0.0.1, which wiped out my change. Is there a better way to change this text for the Java menus? I found that this text is picked up by the java menu in functionmenu.html, but I fear if I modify that, another patch could come along and blow it away. There was some recent discussion about using patch files for such things, but it was short and seemed to leave it with not being about to do that in v.9.x. -- Sean M.
