Does the Java LAPI support HTTP access
Woods_Simon_(sglcuser27c_-_(deleted))
The LAPI Release notes state thatLAPI security features are not currently supported for Java applets running in a web browser. This includes, but isnot limited to, web authentication, HTTP tunneling of LAPI request (encrypted or plain text), certificate support. It is not clear from the text what this means. Does this apply only to the security features (NTLM, HTTPS, SSL) or does it apply to all HTTP based connections? In other words - Can I connect to port 80 (HTTP) of a livelink server using the Java LAPI (V9)?We have internal firewalls which only allow port 80 to pass through.Simon Woodsmailto:Simon.Woods@mch.sbs.deSiemens Business Services

Message from Vinit Kulkarni via eLinkIf i am not mistaken, LAPI is a socket connection directly to the server port(2099 if default) and may not work through firewalls. There is livelink secureconnect module, but i think, applets are not supported. To use applets and lapi, one solution is to open an outputstream and write to the servlet, and from theservlet make a lapi call to livelink.Regards,Vinit Kulkarni."eLink Discussion: Development Discussion" on08/13/2001 03:05:38 PMPlease respond to MjU2Nzk0MgAA@elinkkc.opentext.com To: "eLink Recipient" cc: (bcc: Vinit Kulkarni) Subject: Does the Java LAPI support HTTP access Does the Java LAPI support HTTP accessPosted by SiemensICNUser37 on 08/13/2001 03:02 PMThe LAPI Release notes state thatLAPI security features are not currently supported for Java applets running in aweb browser. Message from Simone Oettinger via eLinkHi SimonThe release notes state "encrypted or plain text".The good news is that, although not supported, this configuration probablyworks. You might want to experiment.Good luckSimoneSimone OettingerProduct ManagerOpen Text Corporation(847) 267 9330 ext 4224simone@opentext.com-----Original Message-----From: knowledge@opentext.com [mailto:knowledge@opentext.com]On Behalf OfeLink Discussion: Development DiscussionSent: Monday, August 13, 2001 2:06 PMTo: eLink RecipientSubject: Does the Java LAPI support HTTP accessDoes the Java LAPI support HTTP accessPosted by SiemensICNUser37 on 08/13/2001 03:02 PMThe LAPI Release notes state thatLAPI security features are not currently supported for Java applets runningin a web browser.
