News item and the size item

My understanding is when a News channel displays size it looks in dTREE.ExAtt1Problem is that it will show news items in total, but when the user clicks the news channel it will just see not experied ones ....Question is it dangerous to update ExAtt1 with a SQL script ...Is ExAtt2 used for news channels ( subtype 207) maybe I can use it .....Or anyone with any other ideas ..Regardsmagnus@ids.sePs. Is there any way more than searching for a user to see experied items .....
