Is it possible to create a LiveReport that shows the users which are currently logged in? From the AUDIT table I can only get the information which user has logged in e.g. on a certain day, but not the current number of logged in users.Any help is very appreciated.

I don't think you can really get this information from a LiveReport. Livelink is able to log the event of a user logging in, but not when a user logs out--since most people log out of Livelink simply by exiting their web browser, rather than by sending Livelink a request.

I think that some systems use utilities of their web servers to track activity against the Livelink system and try to get a sense of logged in users that way.

I've also heard of new PS offerings that will do things such as automatically log a user out if there's no activity from that user within a specified period of time--but I don't know how it was implemented.

Being thata user can just decide not to close his browser for a week, the nexttime he hits livelink it will let him in w.o authentication. This makesit difficult to see who is currently actively logged into livelink. I'ma linux desktop user...my machine has an uptime of 42 days currently(had to reboot for a kernel upgrade) and if for instance I had neveronce closed Netscape during that 42 day period, I'd only have one loginevent in daudit...42 days ago, but I'd still be able to access livelinkas I please because that cookie never exipres. The downside is that youcan't assume I'm using livelink, the possibility that I logged in 42days ago and used it for 10 minutes may be just as reasonable as the oneI just mentioned where I might use it every day.I think a nifty enhancement to livelink would be to have a new adminpage which could give you some historical and current info on useractivity. I think you are right, I will follow your advice and try to get these infos out of the webserver loggings. Perhaps some configuration changes will be necessary in order to get the relevant infos as there are several different jobs running on this server. Thank you very much

The LOGIN information is in the table but not the LOGOFF event, so I can't get the info about the users currently logged in. Anyway, thanks for answering.

Livelink actually supports "ExpiryDate" in the cookie. In version 8.0 (long time ago), I tried to modify the program through builder and add the "ExpiryDate" field to the cookie, user will be required to re-enter his username and password again after the expiry datetime. In addition to this, I have also modified the program so that the expiry datetime will be updated when the user takes any action. This acts like a checking of idle time. It is not difficult to implement but I think it takes time to test.
