Customizing discussion pages

Hi All,I am trying to find a way to customize Discussion pages (viewdiscussion.html, viewthread.html, viewitem.html) only for specific discussions. If I made the changes to the html files found under module\discussion folder, it would affect all the discussion in Livelink. I don't want that.One option that I can think of is, customize the Discussion module and then change the pages. But I am looking for an easier approch as I am planning to do very little customization.Thanks in advance,Krish

Maybe a half good solution

Set an category / attribute on the discussions you want to change and check for that category ...

in the HTML file ....

I'm thinking you can add a check box in the creatediscussion.html page, then modify the Action-View feature, if the check box has been checked, then fHTMLView = yourCustomizedView.html instead of the viewdiscussion.html page.

I'd think more along the lines of creating an 'enhanced discussion' item type, and perhaps a new topic item type to go with it. Then your users could choose when to create an enhanced discussion with additional features or better look-n-feel or whatever, or the stock discussion areas. You could customize the new item type to your hearts' content without fear of affecting all existing discussions. Depending on the extent of your customizations, you could retroactively convert certain 'basic' discussions to the new type without too much hassle.I would do this before putting a bunch of 'if this, show that' stuff in the stock HTML files.
