Workflow and Capturing Sysdate

I'd like to capture the sysdate when a workflow has been initiated (when the record is committed to the data table).The workflow has the following properties:1) Revision Mechanism: SQL Table2) Submission Mechanism: Initiate Workflow3) Storage: SQL TableCan someone suggest a mechanism other than asking the user to provide today's date?
