LAPI, Java and Sun Newbie - Needs advice
Len_Palmeri_(kmartadmin_-_(deleted))
I am an experienced software engineer who is new to LAPI, and somewhat new to both Java and Sun. I need to send textual data from an Windows 2000 server to the SUN and initiate a workflow. What is the best way to go about this? What is the most LAPI-compatible Java IDE? Can I build the component on my NT or XP client and then move it to the SUN? All help is greatly appreciated!CRT

Message from Sean M Alderman via eLinkLapi is purely client oriented, there will probably not be anything thatneeds to be done on the server side of things. Lapi can also be usedfrom VB and C++ as well as java, so if you're not into java perhaps youdon't need to get into it to use lapi. Java doesn't require an IDE, (Iactually prefer not to use one...but I'm a unix guy, so vi is myfriend). I would imagine that whatever IDE (or editor) you use, lapi isgoing to be like lapi. There are no fancy gui widgets or anything likethat inside of lapi...nothing that having an IDE would make simpler foryou as far as I know.As far as the best way to initiate a workflow from lapi, I'm not sure. we don't use workflow in livelink here. The lapi documentation includedwith the libraries should have info on that though. On Wed, 2002-03-06 at 10:19, eLink Discussion: LAPI Discussion wrote:> LAPI, Java and Sun Newbie - Needs advice> Posted by KmartAdmin on 03/06/2002 10:14 AM> > I am an experienced software engineer who is new to LAPI, and somewhat new to both Java and Sun.
