Can't get iTrashcan to purge
Scott_Herman_(webmadmin_-_(deleted))
I noticed there are quite a few people using the iTrashcan module, from Int*net Methods. Have you had any problems getting the purge agent to run? Details:We're running Livelink 8.1.5SP1 on Windows NT with an Oracle 8.1.6 back end. The appropriate row never gets inserted into the AGENTSCHEDULE table (and I have tried running the resetagent command).Any similar experiences?

Message from Sean M Alderman via eLinkWe had something similar right when I signed on here. I don't rememberthe solution, but Glenn was quick to help us get it resolved. On Tue, 2002-04-16 at 13:30, eLink Discussion: Development Discussionwrote:> Can't get iTrashcan to purge> Posted by WebMAdmin on 04/16/2002 01:27 PM> > I noticed there are quite a few people using the iTrashcan module, from Int*net Methods. Thanks ... I'm been working with him for weeks, no success yet.

I would be interested to hear what you guys find as we have never got this functionality to work (assuming you are talking about the auto purge)either.

We never got it to work either. We finally went in at the end of everymonth and deleted the target months data. Please note that reserved files and locked versions would not delete which can be a pain when the locked version is 10 levels down in a folder structure.
John W. Simon, Jr.
agreed 100%. In fact you would think it wouldn't let the original deletion occur if an item is reserved or locked. I mean the user thinks they are deleting it, but we have already told them you can't delete locked/reserved items...confuses them.

the folks at Webmethods discovered the problem with the purge agent not inserting a record into the AgentSchedule table corrctly for Oracle databases only. We have made the required changes and have a new version available for 815 9.0 9.0.0.1 and 9.1We tracked down the problem to the SQL insert statement we were using, it had a syntax error. It executed and didn't throw an error of any kind, but of course the agent didn't get added to the agent table and therefore never ran. Please contact glennw@intrnetmethods.com if you need the update.

Glenn's message is correct, he has issued a new version of iTrashcan which does properly insert the row into the scheduling table. You can check that it has been inserted with the following:select * from agentschedule where agentid=1961Make sure this row is removed when you uninstall iTrashcan. Other useful queries I developed while testing this product:SHOW ME ALL TRASHCAN CONTENTSselect a.* from dtree a, dtree b where b.dataid = a.parentid and b.subtype=195873You must delete these via the LL interface because if you delete the objects directly from the dtree, they may be folders with subtrees.SHOW ME ORPHANSselect o.* from dtree o where parentid <> -1 and not exists (select * from dtree p where o.parentid = p.dataid)Because of the "hidden" attributes and the behavior of locked files, you may accidentally end up with orphans in your database when reinstalling iTrashcan. This query finds them.Good luck -- get the new version, it has a couple fixes besides the scheduling issue.Best regards,Ann Marie BondwebMethods, Inc.
