Indexing for text searching

We are building a LiveLink app that uses a separate application data schema in addition to the LiveLink schema. We would like to make some of our text data fields available to the LiveLink Full Text Search engine. Any ideas how this is handled? Thanks.

In the Livelink Builder Help Topics look at the "Index Custom Node Data" section for an approach to your index need. In your case, you might consider adding a new method, called GetValuesForIndexing, to your custom LLNode objects to get specific text data to be indexed. In the GetValuesForindexing method you could use a new LLNode feature, called fDBTableIndexFields, to create the SQL query against your application data schema.

Hi Daniel,

I expect that you followed the guideliness in builder/documentation/moddevguide/mdg_indexobjs.html.

If you tell us which of the 3 methods mentioned there, then we might be able to find an example in the standard Livelink code, that will make use of the method.

Hi Hans, I'm trying to index the full text on my custom node using the MetaDataCallback.In the Registration method, I added my $ApplTypeSGML to the to the a.applTypes( i.e. a.applTypes = { $ApplTypeSGML } )Also, in the Execute method, I'm not sure what to add to retrieve the full text of my custom node so I added my name as a test

i.e. retVal.metaString = 'DanielEmond' ).When I search for DanielEmond using the full text search, I get no result.Any help or more explicite example will be greatly appreciated.Thanks, Daniel Emond

First you have to realize that the extractor process is activated via the notification process. So it won't run automatically when you are using the builder.

You can set a breakpoint in your function, to be sure that it get called.

The content of the execute function should be something like

metaString += indexUtils.MetaString( "cardfile_database", llNode.FieldValue(prgCtx, node, "database" ) )
regionsToDefine = { @regionsToDefine, "cardfile_database" }

    if ok
  ok = $IndexObject.RegionUtils.DefineRegion( prgCtx, regionsToDefine )
    end
  retVal.metaString = metaString

In the examples I see that the number is used and not the global variable. You may try to set also a breakpoint on the registration function.

In the index OSpace, there is also a child of the metadata callback for a project, that you can use as an example.

The text content of a new document version is not being added to the index. The node looks ok after creation and the attribute data is searchable. I'm using code like this to add a new document :Object llnode = $LLIApi.LLNodeSubsystem.GetItem( $TypeDocument )......status = llnode.NodeCreate( node,parent,extraInfo )Any idea what I'm missing?Many thanks
