restrict regular user from using LAPI??

I would like to hear your opinions and comments.We use Livelink as a enterprise content mgmt tool, we have 40000+ accounts. Should we restrict user from making LAPI calls? Technically any user can use LAPI, but you can just do stuffs with LAPI as much as you can from the web interface. Although LAPI could be much convinent at manipulating large chunk of data.What are the pros and cons of restricting user from using LAPI? Is there any potential risks to free LAPI usages to regular users?I'd like to hear your experience.Thanks in advance.yu.chen@sun.com
