Node Commands - default action

Anquoc_Tran

The .fCmdNames feature for a WebNode allows the default hyperlink action of the name of a node to be set. For example,.fCmdNames = \ { \ { "Open", "Browse" }, \ \ { "Attributes" }, \ { "Copy" }, \ { "CreateAlias" }, \ { "Delete" }, \ { "Move" }, \ { "Permissions" }, \ { "Browse" } \ }sets the default action to be "browse", and the folder is opened when its hyperlinked name is clicked.I have written a custom "info" tab called "CaseDetails", with a corresponding "Action-CaseDetails".Is it possible to change the default hyperlink on the node name to take the user direct to my InfoCaseDetails page, rather than having to use the function menu? We are using Livelink 9.1.Thanks for any help!

Hi,

You probably also need to create a WebNodeCmd CaseDetails (orphan of webnode.WebNodeCmd ) and then you have to change {"Open", "Browse"} into {"Open", "CaseDetails"}. That should work. (Don't forget to run BuildOSpace and restart.)

Hans,Thanks very much for your reply.I already have a "CaseDetails" WebNodeCmd, a WebNode and a corresponding LLNode, and the tab appears perfectly under the "info" function menu. I have also tried exactly as you suggest below, but I could not make it work (there was no hyperlink shown).Am I missing something, or does this not work with custom built info tabs?I would very appreciate some more help on how to do this.Thanks again,Andy.(Posting under a different user name.)>Message from Hans Stoop via eLink>Hi,> >You probably also need to create a WebNodeCmd CaseDetails>(orphan of webnode.WebNodeCmd ) and then you have to>change {"Open", "Browse"} into {"Open", "CaseDetails"}.>That should work. Kenny,the problem is, that Livelink does not allow a Webnode Command to appear in both the function menu and the properties tabs. The open command does not use commands for the info tabber. Therfore you have only two chances:First: create a second WebNodeCmd object for your open command.orSecond: Override your webnode's function "Cmd". Check for parameter open and return your tabber command.Hope this helpsMartin

Message from chris meyer via eLinkHi Martin,Actually, you can set a command to appear in the function menu andproperties tabs. Simply edit the _CmdTypes() method, and set it to returnthe following: { Undefined, 'info' }cheers, chris----- Original Message -----From: "eLink Discussion: Development Discussion"To: "eLink Recipient" Sent: Monday, July 29, 2002 12:34 PMSubject: Function menu and info tabbers> Function menu and info tabbers> Posted by mgaeckler on 07/29/2002 06:29 AM>> Kenny,>> the problem is, that Livelink does not allow a Webnode Command to appearin both the function menu and the properties tabs. Hi,

In one of my webNodes I have as fCmdNames

{{'Open','Info'},{'Attributes'},{'Copy'},{'CreateAlias'},{'Delete'},{'Properties'},{'Move'},{'Permissions'}}

My default action is the specific tab on the info page and that works.

I don't know why your own command doesn't work.

No hyperlink means that Livelijnk knows you have changed the command, but wasn't able to get the URL that belongs to it. Maybe you need to debug the webNode.cmd script to see what happens when the "open" command is passed.

Thanks, Chris and Martin.I now have a "CaseDetails" option at the top level of my function menu (using Chris's suggestion), but I still can't get the default "Open" option to take me to that tab. I have tried the code below:.fCmdNames = \ { \ { "Open", "CaseDetails" }, \ \ { "Attributes" }, \ { "Copy" }, \ { "CreateAlias" }, \ { "Delete" }, \ { "Move" }, \ { "Permissions" }, \ { "Reserve" }, \ { "Browse" } \ }What else am I missing? I am sure this must be so simple, but I'm not getting there yet!! Do I still need to use one of Martin's suggestions, such as overriding the Webnode's "Cmd" script (which seems to be an unsupported method)?Thanks again to everyone,Andy.(Posting under a different user name.)Message from chris meyer via eLinkHi Martin, Actually, you can set a command to appear in the function menu and properties tabs. Kenny,Delete your implementation of _NodeTypes. The needed information for your WebNode Object is changed by WebNode's "0 Setup()". Livelink has a problem if a WebNodeCmd assigns itself via "_NodeTypes()" to a WebNode Object and the WebNode Object assigns the WebNodeCmd to itself, too.Martin

Chris,you're right, I did not know this script, thanks for the information.Martin
