Group by date

I am trying to group record from a single date. However, when I group wwork.work_dateinitiated it goes down to the nearest minute so does not group. Is there a way around this?

You can truncate the date to remove the time. In Oracle, it's as easy as using

trunc(wwork.work_dateinitiated).

If you're using MSSQL, I think you can do something like

convert( datetime, convert(char(10), wwork.work_dateinitiated, 111) ).

Using Oracle Trunc didn't work because it still truncated to the end of the date which includes minutes. This is what I tried that worked. This formated my date the way I wanted it and and then returned one row for each date selected. Select distinct(to_char(createDATE,'yyyy/mm/dd')) from dtree group by createdate
