Ability to create multiple Threads for background processing.

In our Workflows, after all the approvals we have a process where we do some posting into SAP R/3 through the SAP Activator module when the final Approval step is Done. This eats up a lot of time and the user has to wait till the document is successfully posted into SAP. What we intend to do is when the Final Approval step is done, we wanted to initiate a new thread that will take care of the SAP posting. If we are able to do this then the user does not have to wait till the posting is completed because that would be done in a separate thread.Please advice me on how should this be done.Thanks and Regards,
