insystems_rnd_insystems_rnd
Hello,We have LL 9.0.0.1 patched to SP1 July 2001. Since then there 13 new monthly patches available including SP2 patches.Does the latest SP2 November 2002 patch contains all older monthly patched including SP1?If not, how to install all these patches? Thanks in advace.Regards,David InSystems Technologies.

Message from David Slimmon via eLinkHi David,Monthly patches are cumulative and they are all built and tested againstspecific versions of Livelink. So for example, if you have Livelink 9.0.0.2installed, you will automatically also have all of the patches contained inLivelink 9.0.0.1 and every monthly patch that was ever available for9.0.0.1. Similarly, if you apply the July 2002 monthly patch for 9.0.0.2,you will also automatically have all of the previous patches from June andMay.Now in your situation, you have 9.0.0.1 patched up to July 2001. But thelast monthly patch that was actually made for 9.0.0.1 was April 2002. Soyou have a slightly old patch level there for that version of Livelink. If you would like to stay with 9.0.0.1, you can reliably jump up quite abit -- as far as the April 2002 patch. All patches after April in 2002 weremade for 9.0.0.2, not 9.0.0.1. To take advantage of those newer bug fixes, your best bet would be to upgrade your Livelink to SP2 (9.0.0.2) and applythe latest monthly patch to that system. The last monthly patch availablefor 9.0.0.2 was November 2002. Of course, this all assumes that you wouldlike to stay with the 9.0x series of products and not jump to 9.1.When upgrading from Livelink service pack to service pack (example Livelink9.0.0.1 to 9.0.0.2) there should be no database schema change, so theupgrade should not be as time-consuming as jumping from say 9.0.0.2 to 9.1for example. For everyone's reference, all Livelink Monthly Patches are available here:

Message from David Slimmon via eLinkHi David,The first step would be of course to get a copy of 9.0.0.2 if you don'talready have one. It is delivered on CD and can be ordered throughsupport@opentext.comAfter you receive the CD, it should be treated as a full Livelink install. You would install it as you would any Livelink installation (although notovertop of the existing install) and follow the instructions in the manualsfor selecting and existing database because you are going to want to pointthat new instance to what is currently your 9.0.0.1 install. If you haveadditional modules installed, you'll need to bring those over to the newinstance too.As always, we recommend performing this upgrade in a test environment priorto production.Regards,Dave___________________________________________O P E N T E X T C O R P O R A T I O NDavid Slimmon, M.L.I.S.Knowledge Manager
