ParentID/OwnerID and VolID/FolderID
Kevin_Lin_(klin_(Delete)_2436386)
Where can I find detailed information for terms above? What exactly is the relationship between them? Dtree table column names don't match parameter names in API functions, and sometimes we have to put minus sign for volume id. I'm confused at times. Thanks

Message from Sean M. Alderman via eLinkThe basic run down is like this -ParentID => The ObjectID of a node's Parent Object. For example, a worddocument's ParentID is the ObjectID of the Folder that contains thedocument. Usually, but not always what you list as FolderID.OwnerID => The ID of the volume an Object belongs to. These typicallyrelate to Personal/Enterprise Workspace and Project Volumes. In thedevelopment languages this is referred to as VolumeID or VolID.There is a tech tip document (which I don't have the link for) thatdiscusses how ObjectIDs and OwnerID/VolumeID's relate to each other. Perhaps someone could find that and post it, but to explain a bit here -A Project is comprised of two Objects. A Project Object and a ProjectVolume Object. The Project Object will have a VolumeID of -2000 (+1 foreach upgrade you've done, I believe) and a "normal" ObjectID. TheProject Volume will have a VolumeID that is equal to the Project'sObjectID and an ObjectID that is the negative of the Project's ObjectID.For example:Object VolumeID ObjectID----------------------------------------Project -2000 149238Project Vol. 149238 -149238On Mon, 2003-01-20 at 11:04, eLink Discussion: LAPI Discussion wrote:> ParentID/OwnerID and VolID/FolderID> Posted by klin on 01/20/2003 10:55 AM> > Where can I find detailed information for terms above?
