download result of query

I would like to download all files that are a result of a query. The query in question would result in many hits, each of which I would like to download. The number of search hits will be over one thousand, so it will not be viable to download each file one at a time. Livelink explorer will not search using the categories necessary for a correct search, so I cannot do a search, followed by a drag & drop. Any ideas?
