Has anyone written a report or query that can test for the absence of a category within an area of livelink?I have a user who added a category to a folder structure, but not until after some documents were already there (without the category).One suggestion I had for her was that we create a small XML skin for that folder structure that displays the presence of the category. Of course, that would mean either exporting a LOT of nodes or making them browse through a lot of folders.Thanks for any info!Kevin HutsonTokyo Electron America

"All items in an area" -- the devil's in one of the details, here. If the area you're speaking of happens to be a project, then I can think of a way to write a LiveReport to return a list of all the items to which the category is not applied. So I'll assume that.

 

You need the DataID of the project and the DataID of the category. (Reply here if you need help with getting those values.)

• For all of the items in a project (with a few exceptions that I don't think are important here), DTree.OwnerID is set to the project's DataID.
• Category data is stored in LLAttrData, and DefID is set to the category's DataID.

So you could write a LiveReport with SQL like this:

 

select * from dtree
  where ownerid = [projectID]
   and dataid NOT in
     (select id from llattrdata
 where defid = [categoryID] and attrid = 1)

 

If the "area" is not a project, but a folder and its descendants, then it's more difficult to get the set of items that you want to check for the category's presence. You'd need to use either CONNECT BY in Oracle or a stored procedure in MSSQL to return a list of all the items in the area -- see other threads in this discussion for more detail. Or if the area doesn't contain very many folders, you could use ParentID instead of OwnerID (where parentid = [folderID]), running the report for each folder in the area.
