Login Customization without relying on IIS or IPlanet.
George_Broadbent_(enttec01user1_-_(deleted))
Purpose: To customize Livelink Login page so that we can utilize DOMAIN or NDS Authentication without relying on IIS or IPlanet. A similar scenario would be like LAPI Authentication over livelink port 2099 of an NTLM Authenticated livelink Instance. But we dont want to use LAPI in our case, but plan on modifying the login via the SDk to the extent necessary. We are just wanting to CUSTOMIZE LIVELINK LOGIN page to pass the necessary parameters to livelink. We are planning to use an authentication appliance from Novell. The livelink instance will be set to synchronize and authentiacate and the authentication device will "form fill" the parameters in the livelink login page.Would appreciate if some one can guide me in the right direction and also towards more technical reference (More insight into login process) available some where about login.Thank you in advance and awaiting your prompt help in the matter

Message from chris meyer via eLinkHi Rahul,Can you tell me more about this "Novell authentication appliance" ? How do you plan to synchronize the users? Will the form pass through a filter on the server to fill in the login parameters? cheers, chriseLink Discussion: Development Discussion wrote:>Login Customization without relying on IIS or IPlanet.>Posted by Talwar, Rahul on 06/10/2003 10:15 AM>>Purpose: To customize Livelink Login page so that we can utilize DOMAIN or NDS Authentication without relying on IIS or IPlanet. >>A similar scenario would be like LAPI Authentication over livelink port 2099 of an NTLM Authenticated livelink Instance.>>But we dont want to use LAPI in our case, but plan on modifying the login via the SDk to the extent necessary. >>We are just wanting to CUSTOMIZE LIVELINK LOGIN page to pass the necessary parameters to livelink. >>We are planning to use an authentication appliance from Novell. Thanks Chris. As per your question, this is further i have. We are using LDAP directory for synchronization. The purpose is to provide single sign-on to avoid secondary login boxes after the initial authentication from the appliance. The appliance has a feature called formfill which will pass the necessary parameters to the application.Another reason is to avoid having to manage a different web server platform (SunOne web), than the one we normally use (IIS 5). By design IIS does not integrate with LDAP which is the directory service that we are currently using. We are using SunOne (IPlanet) simply for the LDAP authentication that it provides seamlessly along with livleink. We figured that since the appliance is already authenticating then why should we maintain/introduce another authentication piece into the design. What we need are the parameters which livelink requires while having directory services authentication and synchronization enabled so that we can configure formfill correctly on the appliance. Once formfill is configured correctly then we can eliminate IPlanet and allow the appliance to handle authentication. After the user authenticates, what are the parameters that livelink needs as a form fill and how can i pass them. In other words, what parameters are needed for the form fill to pass to livelink so that the user doesnt have to provide any other password or any required data, and it is retrieved automatically using form fill. Please let me know if you need any other info. Thanks again
