You cancertainly modify the browseview.html file (we add an ‘Owner’ column as anexercise in the Builder course) to add the download function; however, there area few considerations.
<![if !supportLists]>1) <![endif]>You must check every itemin the folder, CD, Ent. WS, etc. to see if it is downloadable – could be aperformance hit.
<![if !supportLists]>2) <![endif]>You must now check thepermissions on every downloadable item in the folder before you display it -could be a performance hit.
<![if !supportLists]>3) <![endif]>You might want to considerusing the HTMLMap module.
<![if !supportEmptyParas]> <![endif]>
I hopethis helps.

Promote Download Functionality
Posted by JewsonTech on 08/06/2003 05:47 AM
We have a requirement to promote the download functionality from the standard function menu so that it is more intuitive to the User. I would like to achieve this by duplicating the download functionality and creating an extra column in the table on browseview.html with a specific download button for all document types. Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be much appreciated!!
