Is it possible to create an applet that will run without the sun java plugin? i have created an applet to get the 'current user' (and do other things), it works fine if i have the plugin installed, but fails on the GetCurrentUserID when i don't. Can anyone offer any advice about creating applets that run without the java plug-in.

we can't compile java 1.1 applets with LAPI 9+...great!
