How to make use of authentication created by Livelink Explorer

We are developing a VB program. This program will create a document in Livelink by using LAPI. If Livelink Explorer is installed, how can we make use of the authentication information being entered in Livelink Explorer. We do not want to display a window for user to login again. Can we use the function "LL_SessionAllocFromCookieEx"? Any example?
