Message from Chris Wagg via eLinkIt sounds like you are using Livelink 9.1sp4 or 9.2sp1. If you are not using one of these versions, check to make sure that youhave not applied a patch for one of these versions to your Livelink. These new versions of Livelink have enhanced security for cookie handling. For complete details about the way that cookies arehandled in the new versions, please refer to the release notes. However, the way that the changes affect Directory Services is, youcannot log in to Livelink as a user other than the one you used to log in to the web server. That means no switch Livelink Roles. The switch roles link still exists without any patches, but it does not actually switch you to Admin. The October monthly patchremoved the link. So, now, how do you log in to Livelink as Admin? You need to set up a second web site that uses a different port. In this web site, you will have your CGI and support mappings, thedifference being, that you will not turn authentication on for this site. This is the same procedure that you would use if you haveauthenticated and non-authenticated users, so, many people will already have this set up.If you are using IIS, to create the web site, you will right click on the existing web site and choose new > web site. With the new web site in place, you need to use a slightly different URL to log in as Admin. The URL will look like this (assumingthe port you have assigned is 8919:
http://servername:8919/sevicename/livelink.exeThis
URL will present you with the standard Livelink login page, where you can log in as Admin.-----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Livelink Directory Services Discussion[mailto:directoryservices@elinkkc.opentext.com]Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 5:20 AMTo: eLink RecipientSubject: Switch roles in 2.2.2Switch roles in 2.2.2Posted by NOVNORUser on 05/14/2004 05:17 AMI can't get the menu optionSwitch Livelink Roles.....The system is configered[Security]DomainAndName=FALSEDirectoryService=LivelinkdirectoryList=\support\,\filters\CGIHosts=10.36.43.150,127.0.0.1Authentication=NTLMI have Livelink System privsAny clue !?![To reply to this thread, use your normal E-mail reply function.]============================================================Discussion: Livelink Directory Services Discussion

I followed these steps and was able to create a URL that uses port 90 so the admin user can log into livelink without using the lds authentication however the livelink pages do not display any of the .gif files in the support directory. I created both the cgi and support virtual directories under the new web site. Any ideas?

I have faced similar issues. Are the mapping to LL instance same in both the websites? Both sites need to have the same mapping name for the support folders. If not, create one. It should workKrishna
